Employee
retention is a major issue today since it impacts a company’s
earnings in so many ways. From lost productivity and intellectual
capital to the additional time and effort of hiring, employee
turnover is expensive. Retaining employees is an important topic in leadership development.
When compensation
packages are competitive with the marketplace, it is the intrinsic
rewards that keep employees productive and committed. Retaining and motivating
valuable employees is achievable in any company that builds
awareness, team spirit, trust, and accountability. These concepts
and more are discovered by participants in this fun session through
the use of numerous teambuilding activities and learning ways
to create a fun and productive environment.

Becoming aware
of the reasons people leave and stay with any employer are taught
by a team building activitiy similar to the television show “The Apprentice” complete
with hefty payoffs for the right answers. Team Tic-Tac-Toe is a
fun activity that shows how to be a team building guru by building trust and team spirit which are key
to achieving higher productivity. Being accountable for communication
and goal setting are hilariously illustrated by “Drawing In The
Dark.” Studies on laughter are also used to document significant points.

Making
Work Fun
Employees
That Play Together Stay Together

Employees
judge the quality of their jobs on the intrinsic satisfaction
they feel by being appreciated and supported. These factors
are powerful predictors of commitment, loyalty and retention
according to the "The National Study of the Changing Workforce"
survey. A fun environment builds team spirit so that everyone
feels valued. Relationships are reinforced when people enjoy
their work. With this lighter atmosphere, communication and
cooperation increase and employees are more willing to invest
their energy into their workplace. Making work fun renews the
desire and enthusiasm that employees had when they were first
hired. It keeps them excited about staying and playing on a
winning team. |

This session
is guaranteed fun. Experiential activities are used to get people
involved and learning. Scavenger Hunt is a group effort to list
items by letters of the alphabet that shows the importance of each
team member's contribution. Responding to changing conditions is
clearly demonstrated in two activities: One Word at a Time and Pushing
Hands. The fun has a purpose. After each event, the activity is
then metaphorically related to conditions at work. People often
see new solutions to old problems when looked at in this playful
way. Stories and magic add emphasis and statistics are delivered
to show why employees that play together, stay together.
