Gadget free camps are on the rise. Parents are sending their children to camps that don't allow cell phones or computers. Some don't even have electricity! It is estimated that 87% of American teens surf the Net. On average, kids devoted 6 hours and 21 minutes a day last year to media use outside of school, including TV, video games and the Net, according to a recent survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation.
Could we do that too? Be totally unplugged for several weeks? I think it is worth a try. Who knows we may discover some fun that we wouldn't have thought of like canoeing, fishing, golfing, bike riding, hiking, etc.
